An Insight Into Supercars

Lamborghini Huracan - A modern supercar

Supercars generally refer to high-performance street-legal sports cars, often seen as exotic. There are 3 things that a supercar needs to do well. That is:

  • Acceleration
  • Top speed
  • Handling
In order to improve on these, supercars have tried to become lighter and lighter. It is now rare to find a supercar that doesn't have carbon fibre. Carbon fibre is a very lightweight, yet strong material which is great for weight reduction in cars. The downside is that it is very costly to manufacture. To reduce wind resistance, supercars are made more aerodynamic, which is why they tend to attract attention as well. Wind resistance is also manipulated to improve handling.
